Chia seeds have been consumed for 1000’s of years! It was used like grains along side other grains, pressed for its oil and ground into flour. It was also used for cooking and at times as a medicinal body oil.
The Aztecs, Incans and the Mayans made great use of Chia seeds. Their diet consisted mostly of Chia seeds, beans and corn.
The benefits of chia seeds & oils was restricted from the public and only consumed by kings. That did not last long as workers began secrectly taking chia seeds and planting them in hidden places. Chia seeds are still a highly valued staple food and were once offer to the gods. Chia seeds had such great value it was even used as money!!
The West recently discovered a diet consisting of chia seeds and other grains consumed by the Aztecs, Incans and Mayans are far superior to our modern western diet.
I truly believe food is medicine and medicine is food and that we all need to take a good look at our own health and start eating organically grown food the way nature intended it to be consumed. It is best that we find what we can do differently to better our health and do it. A good start would be to realize that our body can easily heal itself (HEALING IS WHAT OUR BODY DOES BEST) and then find the tools (food) our body needs to get the job done.
